Customer Spotlight: Isabelle Einess’ Quest for Another State Title
Catching up with defending Minnesota girls’ tennis state A champion Isabelle Einess
When Isabelle Einess was 9 years old, she fell in love with tennis. Now, she’s Minnesota’s reigning Class A state champion.
In preparation for her senior year at Breck, Einess is training hard to defend her title. We sat down with Einess to talk about diversifying her game, Iga Świątek, and what’s next in her journey.
What is your favorite tennis memory?
For me, it's probably when I won state. I had worked very hard to achieve that goal and I spent lots of hours training for it and lots of hours in the gym and on the tennis court. So it was a really cool experience just being able to succeed at that. I had lost the year before and I was down about it, but it really got me motivated to continue to work hard and eventually achieve the goal that I wanted so badly my sophomore year.
What have you been working on?
I'm working on some more variety in my game because I don't want to have one style that I'm really good at. I want to be more versatile and have more shots and more things that I can go to if something's not working. I’ve also been spending a lot of time traveling for tournaments.
Where is the coolest place you have traveled for tennis?
I would say California and Florida. They’re both so pretty, and they have amazing sites and amazing tennis courts.
Do you have a favorite professional tennis player?
I would say my favorite is Iga Świątek, because I feel like I relate to her in how she feels on the court. She’s a bit emotional on the court and I love the way she plays. She’s so aggressive in how she can build points, something I aspire to do in the future.
Who has influenced your tennis career the most?
It’s hard to say because so many people have, but I’d say for the longest amount of time, my dad. He’s just stuck with me through everything and he’s always willing to go out after practice or in the evening and hit with me. My dad has helped me so much throughout the years.
What are you looking forward to most this season?
This coming season, I'm just so excited to be able to spend time with the girls, and play all these matches with them. They're some of my closest friends, and it’s like a family on the team. If we do get to state, I’m really looking forward to that experience with them. We were so close last year (to the team championship), it came down to the last match, but I'm hoping that we can pull it off this year and I think we can.
Why do you love shopping at Michael Lynne’s?
I love that they are always helping me figure out new things that I can do to help me improve a little bit more. They all have amazing knowledge about tennis racquet, tennis strings, tennis balls, like they know everything. It's such a reliable place to shop at and they're always willing to help you.
